There’s a new up and coming interior design idea, and I’m loving it! Would you consider adding a swing to the decoration of your home? Most commonly used in loft spaces, a decorative/indoor swing is both original and unconventional. It’s fun for the kids, it’s great for the adults and from a design perspective it looks wonderful. How about trying something new and original in your home? Ever think about enhancing your staircase by painting it? This relatively small project can impact your home tremendously! Go wild with multicolored stairs. Go artsy and paint a vine running up the length of your steps, or you can be traditional and paint the illusion of a runner. Another idea is to use a wall decal or a stamp to create a sort of mural running up your stairway. Painting your staircase gives you the opportunity to put some creativity into one of the overlooked parts of your home.

Layering for Winter?

Think layering when it comes to window treatments this year! Sometimes, just drapery panels or blinds won’t get you the look you want. Well, you might need two treatments to complete your look. Layering is most often done with complimenting drapes to go on top of your blinds. Rooms such as dining rooms are a great example of spaces that sometimes need a little extra oomph to make them stand out from the rest of the house.

An added advantage of layering two treatments is that you get double insulation, especially as we approach the colder winter months. Act II Designers love layering their window treatments and believe they can be that finishing touch to complete your room.

Paint it: One of the quickest ways of updating the overall look of a room. All you need is a gallon or two of paint to instantly refresh a space.

Shuffle it: Chances are you haven’t done this since you moved in or bought new furniture, however rearranging a room will give it a fresh feel.

Chuck it: Throw pillows spice up a room in seconds. If you have a sofa and chairs in a print, look for solid pillows, which will highlight the suppressed colors.

The Write Kitchen

It’s a great juxtaposition to the new and fresh environment, it feels used, but just enough…it’s almost like graffiti, we can create and have people create, there’s never going to be a dull moment in this kitchen!

It had been used in an old school for many years and with technology black boards really aren’t in use anymore. So, why not carefully rip it out and let it have another use? It’s extremely durable you can set a hot pot directly on it and it wont burn. Very few people have used it as counter tops, but it’s no different than any other stone. Well except for the fact that you can write on it…and I think that puts it on a whole new level of cool… Life Lesson: Anything and everything can be used in interior design.

Light it up – Have varied light sources with assorted heights such as, overheads, desk lamps and floor lamps.
